Origin: Evelio Nicolás Hernández
La Nueva Esperanza
Don Evelio Nicolás Hernández bought the farm in 1983, and named it for his desire for a new start in La Democracia. Over the years his family grew and he expanded the farm, buying adjacent lots. Access to the specialty coffee market has meant a great deal to Elevio and his family.
Chalum and fruit trees shade the plants, but the steep slope here does much to diffuse afternoon sunlight. In addition to coffee, the farm grows bananas and other fruits.
