Carlos, diverging from his family's path, initially ventured into the textile industry. However, his upbringing immersed in the coffee sector inevitably drew him back. Today, Carlos leads his family's century-old legacy into the future through his management of three coffee farms: San Antonio, Las Brisas, and San Roque. In 2012, he revitalized these farms, prioritizing sustainable practices by reducing pesticide and fertilizer usage while embracing natural alternatives to promote quality growth. Implementing double rows and straight contour lines for planting, Carlos ensured efficient water usage, with tree shading preserving nearly 100 percent of rainfall. Additionally, he introduced permaculture methods, fostering mycorrhizae to enhance nutrient exchange and carbon fixation, thus establishing a self-sustaining agricultural ecosystem.
